Dear Respect Life Coordinators and Committees,

You may all be aware of the heinous ad on various news publications posted by "Catholics for Choice" that states "Public funding for abortion is a Catholic social value." It seems that the almighty dollar is more important than what is true and just in society. It used to be that a respected News Source wouldn't promote such obvious lies as fact. Unfortunately, we live in different times than we used to. Let those papers know that you are unhappy with their approach. It is important that we stay loud on the injustice we see and continue to pray for God to soften the hearts of the many so that we can build a culture of life as He would intend. We thank you in advance for your voice!
We are one with you all that oppose this garbage of an ad.

Among many things that the Archdiocese of Chicago along with the Catholic Conference of Illinois has done behind the scenes to combat this ugly ad campaign is to post a link to Cardinal Dolan's response on the front page of the Archdiocesan Website: www.archchicago.org. This is the National Statement from the USCCB. The "Catholics for Choice" ad was printed in at least 20 markets across the country, and worthy of a National statement from our Bishops. The Archdiocese of Chicago is in 100% agreement with Cardinal Dolan and the USCCB. We all agree that this was an attack with a specific agenda against the Catholic Church and to hopefully affect less educated Catholics.

In addition, the Archdiocese of Chicago has responded through the Catholic Conference of Illinois. You can click here to see the statement from the Catholic Conference of Illinois.

Let's not succumb to the negativity this ad brings to many of us who know the truth. The teaching of the Catholic Church on abortion is the same as it always has been: The Church respects the sanctity of human life, from conception to natural death. This is a great charge towards the month of October we all know to be Respect Life month. Let us continue in prayer to educate and promote human dignity in the continuum of conception until natural death.
