Gearing Up for Respect Life Month
|

If you are the Parish Respect Life Coordinator, plan to attend one of the 5 regional "Gearing Up for Respect Life Month in the Parish" meetings in late August. At these meetings, Margie Breen will give you updates on activities and initiatives planned for the 2010-2011 year of Respect Life, and she will also provide you with important flyers and the USCCB Parish kits. The new Youth Outreach Coordinator, Ray Pingoy, will be there as well. If you cannot make any of the following meeting dates, then please call our office at (312) 534-5355 to arrange delivery of your parish kit.
Gearing Up Locations (All gatherings begin at 7:00 p.m.)
08/23 - Vicariates III & VI, Meyer Center, 3525 South Lake Park Ave., Chicago (This location is ideal for those who are located in the City of Chicago: Central, Near West, and South.)

Pope John Paul II's Theology of the Body is changing lives around the world through its positive portrayal of our sexuality.
The Theology of the Body for Teens Teacher Training brings this exciting teaching into a practical curriculum of 12 chapters that teenagers will enjoy and understand. This curriculum is perfect for 8th grade thru high school students and can be adapted for a youth group or confirmation class.

Launch Respect Life Month with a special blessing and commissioning from Cardinal George!
Come Celebrate the Sanctity of All Human Life during Respect Life Month at this Special Archdiocesan Mass. October is Respect Life Month. Our Parish Respect Life Coordinators and Committee Members Will Receive a Special Commissioning at this Liturgy. This is a great way to kick off and recommit to another year of Pro-Life ministry in your parish!

Mission
Through its ministry to parishes, schools, youth groups, colleges and universities, religious and secular media, legislators and all people of good will, the Respect Life Office seeks to transform society into a Culture of Life where every human being is valued and protected from the moment of conception until natural death.
Following the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishop's Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities, the Respect Life Office implements a 4-Point Plan for building a Culture of Life:
1) Education
2) Pastoral Care
3) Public Policy
4) Prayer and Worship
We seek to convert hearts and minds on a wide range of life issues including Abortion, Post-abortion Healing, Euthanasia, Chastity Education, Embryonic Stem Cell Research, Human Cloning, Capital Punishment, Ethical Vaccines, Fertility Issues and Artificial Contraception.
